Tree maintenance has been extensive as the trees on site were planted over 20 years ago. This year, we are undergoing work to improve the health of the trees and to allow them to get better access to light.
We will be planting an additional 28 trees including, Betula pendula (Silver Birches), Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Inaba Shidare’ (Red Japanese Acers) and Amelanchier lamarckii (Amelanchier).
The trees selected to be planted will be more suited to the areas as they will be smaller in size. These trees have also been sourced from the UK rather than coming over from countries aboard saving on emissions and less likely to transport diseases. The trees cut down have been recycled 100% on site as wood chippings that goes in the bedding and tree pits around the park plus we have some logs from the trees that will become habitat for the wildlife.
