At Enjoy-Work, our philosophy is ‘If you enjoy work, you do better work. If you do better work, you have a better business’. In other words, we believe that the happier you are, the more productive you can be.
The link between happiness and productivity has been particularly tested in recent months, with more people than ever having to work from home for long period of times.
While many employees have enjoyed this new experience, there are many who have not. Everyone has been on their own emotional rollercoaster with happiness levels rising and falling at different times. For some, productivity has soared with no commute or distractions, while for others it has plummeted.
A recent survey acknowledges that over 60% of people working from home are exercising less, and this increased sedentary time is having a significant impact on our productivity.
It’s been proven that regular exercise improves productivity in the workplace. Not only does exercise increase your endorphins, but it also boosts energy levels and improves mental and physical wellbeing. Therefore, it could be the key to a much healthier, happier and more productive workforce.
Of course, finding the time (and the motivation) to move your body can be hard, especially during the winter months. But just 30 minutes a day of walking, cycling or yoga can help reduce stress, improve sleep, and boost your mood.
There is no need to walk for hours. The NHS recommends ‘a brisk 10-minute daily walk has lots of health benefits and counts towards your recommended 150 minutes of weekly exercise’. Remember, focusing on de-stressing and improving mental health is really important, especially after the challenging year that we’ve had.
Our latest programme of virtual events at Chiswick Park is based around ‘Finding your Happy’. Each week, we have a selection of different online events and workshops that are free for our Guests to attend, including lunchtime fitness classes to encourage movement into their working day.
